Lavender, the Blue Gold of Provence

Once a year, the landscapes of Luberon transform, and a pleasant fragrance wafts through the air… Lavender, the star of Provence, makes its appearance! Make way for the magnificent spectacle of lavender fields in bloom.

For the pleasure of the eyes and to enjoy this sweet scent or discover the know-how of the distillation process and the numerous lavender-based products, book your stay in Luberon between late June and late July.

Indeed, this time of the year is perfect and we will be glad to offer you hiking and other activities related to this emblematic plant.

To Understand it All 🧐:

As a starter, the “musée de la Lavande” in Coustellet is the perfect place to get all the information you need about lavender, its varieties, harvesting, uses etc…

You can then continue your discovery by visiting the Les Agnels distillery in Apt. Here, distillation takes place all year round, and everything will be explained to you with passion. There’s also a nice store on site, and a nice walk in the surrounding area is recommended. The scenery is breathtaking during the flowering season.

2 famous events are organised in the surroundings during summer. The Lavander festival in Apt, traditionally held in mid-July during the Lavandin harvest, and the lavender festival in Sault, which takes place later in the year due to the difference in altitude.

These two festivals are a great opportunity to meet local producers and artisans and participate in major events in the region!
